Electrics Over Red Rock Festival - September 5, 2015
2017 National Model Aviation Day & 3rd Electrics Over Red Rock Festival
Temperatures rose over 100F by late morning, but we persevered and made the best of it.
I would like to thank the sponsors, members, volunteers and participants who made this years events a success and fun. It was a lot of work and didn't turn out as big as last year, but it was a fun day and more like a family event than anything. I want to thank Robert S. for the fantastic BBQ, Doug B. for setup and another overnight at the field with me watching things, Sandy for his excellent quad presentation on the pad, Bill R. and Bill H., Jim, Mike, Logan, Ben Storick from Align for his helicopter demo's, Tom Knapp for his excellent photography, Joseph P. and Jim for their help with cleaning up the mess, Mac for the winch and striping the flight line, and many others.
Our sponsors provided great prizes for the raffle and continuing support for the club. Bryan and Steve of Friendly Hobbies of Las Vegas, a long time sponsor and friend of the club, provided the major prize won by Dennis Everett from Ontario, CA. There were many other prizes donated by Tower Hobbies, Align/Enterprise Hobbies, Motion RC, General Hobbies along with donations by several members of the club.
As we process the event follow up we'll post more information and pictures. In the meantime, here are a few more pictures. Thanks to Robert S. for these pictures...
Thanks,
Barry Mattison

Our thanks to those who participated in our 1st annual Electrics Over Red Rock Festival Saturday the 5th.
The event was a great success considering we were not the only event on the Labor Day weekend.
A special thanks to the volunteers:
Doug B., Harvey D., Jerry and son Jackson, Terri and Amanda Resch, Bill R. and Bill H., and the event committee Robert S. and Barry M.
We had some great prizes in the raffle and a few unexpected surprises. Joesph Tighi, one of our youngest and most enthusiatic members gathered several of the prizes, including the Carbon Z T-28. In a curious twist as can only be seen in a raffle drawing, Joseph also won the Pitts Biplane and a signed book from TV host Zak Bagans of Ghost Adventures. But generosity prevailed and Joseph gave the Pitts back for a redraw and went home with the biggest smile and a T-28. Our club is the best and the members consistently show that by their actions.
We also collected funds to benefit the Sarcoma Foundation, the charity of choice at the "Fly In For a Cure" being held at Bennett Field by the Las Vegas Radio Control Club (many of our members belong to several clubs and support them whenever possible.) The LVSC also made a donation to their event for the foundation.
Congratulations to our raffle drawing winners:
